Automatic switch from Quick Mode to Deep Mode: what is it for?

1. What is Quick Mode?

Quick Mode is used to check or verify an existing prescription when the clinical context is clear.
It provides a simple, effective and fast check, provided that the patient meets certain simplicity criteria, such as:

  • a recent prescription (ideally less than 6 months old);

  • an unremarkable refraction:
    • sphere between −5.75 and +3.75 dioptres;
    • cylinder less than 2 dioptres;
    • difference between right and left eye of less than 1.50 dioptres;the patient must be under 70 years of age;
  • no ocular or general pathology;

  • no treatment likely to affect vision.

  • Quick Mode is a validation tool, but it does not replace a deep eye examination.

In which situations does the device automatically switch to Deep Mode?

During a Quick Mode examination, SiVIEW automatically switches to Deep Mode when one of the following situations is encountered:

  • if the patient does not achieve 10/10 visual acuity monocularly with the tested correction;

  • if a significant deviation is observed compared with the initial prescription, indicating a departure from the starting values, which may vary depending on the parameter concerned (sphere, cylindrical power or axis);

  • if a marked imbalance is observed during binocular balance, whether using polarisation or the Von Graefe method.

In such cases, switching to Deep Mode ensures the reliability of the assessment.

3. What is Deep Mode used for?

Deep Mode is the expert mode of SiVIEWExam.
It is designed to carry out a full and comprehensive eye examination, including in complex cases. In addition to the case history, it provides a detailed and personalised analysis to optimise patient management.

This is the examination mode recommended by default: it ensures the most complete and accurate assessment.

4. Do I need to do anything when the mode changes?

No. When the examination automatically switches from Quick Mode to Deep Mode, the change occurs seamlessly, allowing the examination to continue with a more comprehensive level of analysis. In practical terms, you simply need to continue the examination by following the Deep Mode workflow.
